A term derived from the hidden place in the leg of a sailor’s boot.

A good drive on the third that reaches the top of the hill will afford the player a look at the green. That look, however, is deceiving: the green is elevated and long. The second shot--to a pin that is further away than it looks-- is usually of mid-iron length.
